Tournament Signups

Signing up for a tournament

To sign up for an upcoming tournament,

simply submit payment as described below under "Submitting Payment".

Contact Marc Petersen at marc.a.petersen@gmail.com

if you have any questions.

Include the names of all the players you are signing up.  You can add the names in a note with the payment if you are using PayPal, or send them to Marc via email.

You are officially signed up once payment is received.  If signups reach the limit for a tournament, paid players take priority over unpaid players.  Unpaid players will not be permitted to play until they pay.

Inviting Guests

Keysight Golf Club encourages members to invite guests to play in our tournaments.  Guests are eligible for Closest To Pin awards (when we have them) but no other prizes.  Guests are responsible for keeping and posting their own scores.  Guests scores will not be included in the posted standings.

Each member may invite one guest to each tournament.  Additional guests may be invited depending on availability of playing slots. Additional guests will go on the waiting list until the signup cutoff date.

Tournament Handicapping

We use the World Handicap System (WHS) for handicap determination.

Course Handicaps now use the formula

Handicap Index * (Slope/113) + Rating - Par

where Slope, Rating and Par are for the target course.

In many cases this will result in a lower Course Handicap than you are used to from the pre-2020 Handicap system.

For our qualifying tournaments, we use 85% of the Course Handicap

For non-qualifying tournaments, we use 100% of the Course Handicap

For 2-person best Ball tournaments, we used to limit the difference in handicap between the two players on a team to 10, by reducing the higher handicap, but the NCGA no longer reccommends that
